Easter Tulips and Blessings

Cindy Rippe 2012 - Easter Tulips

This morning I'm looking forward to time with my immediate family, thinking about the blessings I've received, and remembering Easter mornings throughout the years I've been married.  I'm glad to be a Christian, free to worship in the church of my choice, and get to enjoy the beauty of Spring on this perfect day with my family.

Lee and I will be attending church services with my mother-in-law, Alice, at the same church that 5 generations of her family has worshiped in at one time or another.  She sits in the same pew almost every week. It's the one that her husband Fred, Lee's Dad, liked to sit in.  Close to the front, but not too close.  Off to the side but in the middle of all the action.  We haven't been able to make it to services as much as we used to but today we'll be sitting with her. Missing Pops, remembering past Easter mornings and singing the same song we've been singing for 37 years.

Christ the Lord is Risen Today
Originally written in 1739 by Charles Wesley -
Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids him rise, Alleluia!
Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!
Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once he died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where’s thy victory, boasting grave? Alleluia!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead... 1 Peter 1:3 (NIV)
