©CindyRippe2013 - A Moment in Life - Tulips in my kitchen this morning |
As I walked through the kitchen this morning I saw that the tulips, that were so perfect yesterday, had reached the last few days of their life. I'm fascinated with all stages of plant growth so as soon as I started the tea kettle I grabbed my camera. In the time it took for the water to boil I had captured 37 images of the tulips, the newly emerging amaryllis bud next to it and, unfortunately, the messy shelf behind them. Normally I keep these images for myself, thinking that I'll use them as a resource when I draw a new design, but I rarely ever do. I usually draw from live flowers. I just love to capture the moment.
While I snapped the images I really noticed all the details. The way the leaves curled, the pollen that had fallen on the petals, the drying leaves and so much more! I then focused in on the amaryllis bud emerging next to the tulips. One life's strong beginning and another, still living, but slowly ending. Both are amazingly beautiful to me. It's the way I'm trying to live my life now. Noticing those perfect moments in time and making sure to appreciate them. After all, that's all we have for sure. This one moment.
I thought you'd enjoy a peek at the way I try to capture life's moments behind the lens of my camera.
The whole of life is but a moment of time. It is our duty, therefore to use it, not to misuse it. Plutarch
Beautiful pics Cindy! ...and if you call that shelf messy, you need to scoot over here to get a TRUE PICTURE of what messy REALLY means LOL! Really looking forward to the pics of the amaryllis when it blooms. Do you know what colour it is? I hear ya about appreciating every moment, I start every day thanking God that I woke up and end every day by thanking God that I had the day on His beautiful Earth. Great post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elaine, lol, the messy side doesn't show. Such a nice way to wake up and go to sleep. Thanks so much for visiting!
